As I was reading the script, I had an idea to intensify the story using visuals. I suggested the use of a silhouette to convey ideas without outright showing them. We create this effect using a single source of light and a screen to project the shadows onto.
This effect was specifically mentioned in the critic’s review of the musical.
From Warren Gerd’s review:
“Silhouette scenes enhance the storytelling. One sequence blends real Daisy with her dancing self, with hands seemingly touching. Another flows from beauty to chilling despair.”
