Hand Drafting

One of the classes that I took at CCM was a hand drafting class. In this course I worked on fundamental drafting skills through hand drafting.

The very first assignment for the class was working on hand lettering. My handwriting generally is rather messy, so this assignment created a considerable improvement in the consistency of my writing.

The drafting in the top left was an exercise on creating a section view of a real object. For the drafting in the top right we started with a napkin sketch of a dog house with a few different requirements that we had to fofill. From this we created a drafting with dimensions. The bottom drafting was meant to represent what a Technical Director might have to do and create a drafting for a shop. I started with an outline for the flats and platforms and I added all of the structural members that would actually hold up the flat.

For this assignment, I practiced dimensioning and notating a drawing.

My final project in this class was designing a set for a show. I then drafted the design into one of the theaters we have on campus.
