At the end of the show, the main character in the show is dying and going to heaven.  I used harsh toplight and smoke to create an otherworldly effect.

Later on, in the scene, he sees Fantine, who had died earlier in the show.  At this point, I was also using some sidelights on the set and a spot on Fantine.  This preserved the look that I had on Valjean (the main character) while warming up the scene as his old love reenters the picture.
