A Little Night Music

Class, University of Cincinnati

Rather than just creating a design for a random show, for lighting design class we had the chance to work with the Nederland’s Reisopera. Each student was tasked with creating a design for A Little Night Music using the inventory of the Reisopera. When designing in the Wilminktheater (the Reisopera’s home theater) I came across something completely new to me – a moving portal bridge. Having a permanent piece of masking with a permanent place for lights was a new design opportunity. Another consideration that we had to deal with was focus time because of the Reisopera tours with all of their shows. Along with these considerations, I have never seen the theater in person so I learned how to choose where to place lights without access to the theater.

Below are some of my research images for the show.
